About The Position

Senior Risk Control Consultants support the identification, acquisition and retention of desirable business through the delivery of risk control consulting services to assigned prospects and clients and acts as a resource to producers for risk assessment and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, environmental health, industrial hygiene, risk management, business, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of five years of risk control, safety consulting, loss control, or related experience with an insurance carrier, brokerage, consulting firm, auditing firm, or federal or state regulatory agency.
  • Hold a current and valid Property and Casualty insurance license or obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • Hold at least one professional designation, such as CSP, ARM, CRM, CLCM, CSM, or another relevant designation, or demonstrate the ability and willingness to obtain one within 18 months of employment.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance principles, risk control methodologies, occupational safety practices, and applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including OSHA and DOT.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess operational risks, identify hazards, and develop practical risk management solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to clients, prospects, carrier partners, and internal team members.
  • Strong interpersonal, consulting, and relationship-building skills with the ability to influence others and establish credibility with clients and business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions while managing multiple client engagements and competing priorities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency using virtual meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom, including screen sharing and presentation delivery.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development by maintaining required licensing and completing continuing education requirements applicable to the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional risk control consulting services to clients by identifying exposures, evaluating operational risks, and recommending practical loss prevention and safety solutions.
  • Visit and inspect client and prospective client locations to evaluate workplace hazards, operational exposures, and overall risk management practices.
  • Prepare comprehensive risk assessment reports detailing operations, identified exposures, existing controls, and recommendations for risk improvement.
  • Review loss history, claims data, and trending information to identify loss patterns and opportunities for reducing future claims.
  • Analyze client operations to identify hazards and recommend strategies to improve workplace safety, reduce risk, and enhance operational performance.
  • Assist clients in the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of safety and risk management programs, including Fleet Safety, Heat Illness Prevention, Injury and Illness Prevention (IIPP), Hazard Communication, DOT Driver Qualification, Emergency Action, Business Continuity, Lockout/Tagout, and other regulatory or operational programs.
  • Provide guidance to clients regarding compliance with applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Observe and evaluate client safety committee meetings, providing recommendations to improve effectiveness, employee engagement, and overall safety culture.
  • Assess client management systems, safety metrics, reporting tools, and decision-making processes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Provide risk control due diligence services in support of mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions as requested.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, insurance carrier representatives, producers, account management teams, and other internal business partners.
  • Collaborate with Sales Executives and Commercial Lines service teams to support client retention, identify opportunities for additional services, and enhance the overall client experience.
  • Participate in client meetings, prospect presentations, and marketing opportunities to communicate the value of the company's risk control services.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging risks, regulatory changes, and best practices to provide informed recommendations and consultative guidance to clients and internal teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and client communications in accordance with company standards and Agency Management System requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding promptly and professionally to client and internal requests while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical business practices.
  • Engage in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance technical knowledge, consulting skills, and industry expertise.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to uphold operational standards and maintain ethical business practices.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
