About The Position

Capital One is seeking highly motivated Senior Risk Associates interested in supporting and learning about dedicated risk advisory for the Upmarket and Discover Card business segments. Our Senior Risk Associates function as key partners in supporting high visibility and critical risk management activities across multiple lines of defense, such as product and process risk assessments, audits and exams, new intent delivery, control advisory, and more. Ideal candidates will demonstrate ownership in executing these risk management activities, with the support and guidance of an experienced vertical risk manager, and possess a growth mindset and willingness to experience and learn new activities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 1 year of experience in financial services, project or process management, or combination

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • 2+ years of experience in project or process management
  • 1+ years of experience in risk management
  • 2+ years of experience in presentation or communication
  • 1+ years of experience in change management

Responsibilities

  • Directly support vertical risk managers and accountable executives for the Upmarket and Discover Card business segments
  • Execute critical risk management activities both with and independent of the vertical risk manager
  • Coordinate, influence, and negotiate priorities with teams to ensure well managed goals/timelines are met; escalating when appropriate
  • Establish strong interaction models and relationships to collaborate and consult with key stakeholders
  • Collect data and information and use analytics and reporting to develop risk transparency to senior leadership and executives
  • Develop strong business acumen to appropriately represent the business to 2nd and 3rd line of defense partners
  • Develop and maintain formal process documentation including procedures, playbooks, and process flow diagrams that demonstrate the well managed infrastructure
