About The Position

Matrix Research is seeking an experienced Senior RF Systems and Business Development Engineer to lead technical hardware design and support strategic business growth in Dayton, Ohio. The role bridges hands-on RF hardware development with customer capture, advancing radar, electronic warfare (EW), and software-defined radio (SDR) platforms while expanding the company’s work with defense and commercial partners. Approximately 60% of the work focuses on lab-based engineering with multidisciplinary teams: leading architecture, schematic design, bench testing, and integration of high-performance RF hardware and SDR subsystems alongside digital and FPGA engineers. Approximately 40% focuses on technical marketing, customer engagement, and capture initiatives across DoD, defense prime, and commercial customer bases. The engineer translates hardware capabilities into proposals, white papers, and novel system concepts. Matrix Research is an employee-owned small business working on radar, radio frequency, and sensor exploitation technologies. Its programs span basic research through demonstration, test and evaluation, and low-rate production of advanced sensing systems, subsystems, and components. The company offers a hybrid remote work environment for most positions and hourly pay for all positions.

  • Demonstrated ability to interface RF subsystems with digital hardware, high-speed converters, and FPGA-based processing platforms.
  • Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, high-speed oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • A proven track record contributing to technical business development, capture management, concept white papers, and competitive proposal authoring.
