About The Position

Motorola Solutions, through its subsidiary Silvus Technologies, is seeking a Senior RF Design Engineer to join their RF Engineering team. This role will focus on developing the RF subsystem for Silvus’ StreamCaster MANET product line. The position is fully onsite in West Los Angeles, Monday through Friday. The engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the design process, from antenna to baseband RF subsystem design using discrete circuitry or highly integrated RFICs. This includes implementing schematic capture, PCB layout, RF performance characterization, tuning, and troubleshooting. The role also involves ensuring good EMI performance, compliance with emission and immunity regulations, troubleshooting RF-related production yield problems, and improving designs for manufacturability. Occasional local travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of multi-GHz RF hardware development experience.
  • Good working knowledge of RF board layout, fabrication, and packaging.
  • Hands-on experience with solving EMI, harmonics, spurious, and stability issues.
  • Experience using RF simulation tools (i.e. AWR Microwave Office, Altium).
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
  • All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Antenna to baseband RF subsystem design using discrete circuitry or highly integrated RFICs.
  • Discrete design includes PLL, LNA, Mixers, PA etc.
  • Implementing or supervising schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • RF performance characterization, tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Overall system design to ensure good EMI performance.
  • Ensure circuit board design and overall radio product can pass emission and immunity regulations.
  • Troubleshoot RF-related production yield problems.
  • Improve design for manufacturability.
