About The Position

Sonar is hiring a Senior Revenue Accountant to help ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of its worldwide revenue recognition processes. The role leads and executes aspects of monthly and quarterly accounting for complex revenue-related areas in accordance with US GAAP and statutory reporting requirements. It also supports reliable financial reporting, informed business decisions, robust internal controls, and Sonar’s financial integrity as the company grows.

The accountant will contribute to the transformation and operational effectiveness of the accounting function by improving processes, using automation and technology in management reporting, coaching junior team members, and reviewing their work. The role also collaborates across the finance organization and supports ongoing audits.

The position is based in the location where it is posted, with an in-office collaboration rhythm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Relocation may be supported for the right candidate.

Requirements

• At least 6 years of experience in Revenue Accounting; software experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit readiness.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to work on-site, collaborate across teams, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Extensive experience using Aptitude RevStream, SFDC, NetSuite, and Stripe.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

• CPA or similar certification.
• Revenue Accounting experience in the software industry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules across revenue-related areas under US GAAP and statutory reporting requirements.
• Work with SQL reporting, product configuration, revenue recognition rules, and data error resolution.
• Lead process improvement and transformation initiatives to strengthen reporting quality, efficiency, scalability, and controls.
• Identify and implement opportunities to use automation, technology, and AI-enabled solutions in management reporting processes.
• Mentor and develop accounting team members and serve as a trusted resource across the broader finance organization.
• Assist with ongoing audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Perform first-level reviews of junior team members’ work.
