About The Position
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Revenue Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will report to the Manager, Revenue Recognition and be responsible for the day-to-day revenue accounting as part of a broader team. The ideal candidate will be one who is a proactive learner, takes initiative, and is a great team player. Candidate will be a talented and passionate individual who is interested in joining and helping us take Proofpoint to the next level.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, ideally CPA, CPA candidate, or similar level
- Experience in accounting in industry and/or public accounting, focus on SaaS & software revenue recognition required
- Proficient technical and operational knowledge of ASC 606 and multiple-element arrangements
- Ability to form excellent relationships and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Manage multiple priorities well and handle assigned tasks with attention to detail
- Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem solving and follow through
- Operate as a team and/or independently while demonstrating flexibility to changing requirements, time constraints, and deadlines
- Take a clean sheet approach when revisiting operational processes
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze and organize large amounts of data
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 and Zuora Revenue is a plus
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency with revenue accounting rules under ASC 606 by performing deal review on multiple-element SaaS & software arrangements to ensure accurate revenue recognition treatment
- Contribute to process and system improvements in the revenue cycle including ERP system enhancement and projects
- Prepare analyses, journal entries, and related account reconciliations
- Participate in the monthly close
- Assist in preparation of audit requests as needed
- Perform processes and procedures to comply with SOX 404 control framework
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and initiatives as assigned
