About The Position

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a full-time Senior Respiratory Therapist. This primary assignment will be on day shift within the Respiratory Specialty Comprehensive Care Unit (RSCCU) and Burn Treatment Center. The role involves directing, organizing, reviewing, and coordinating the work of respiratory therapists and technicians within a specific area, as well as providing direct respiratory care. Responsibilities include managing ventilation, medical gas therapy, medicated aerosol therapy, pulmonary hygiene, blood gas sampling and analysis, non-invasive monitoring, and supervising respiratory care implementation. The position also offers critical care expertise, education, and relief for routine shift staffing and operations. A $10,000 sign-on incentive is available for eligible candidates with a minimum two-year commitment (current UI employees are not eligible). Additionally, an advanced respiratory care services differential of up to $5,000 (prorated) is available.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a health related science or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is required.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care or National Society for Cardiopulmonary Technology and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Iowa is required.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Respiratory Care practice is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Possess a current State of Iowa Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Possess a current CPR certification card.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 to 5 years of recent critical care experience.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.
  • Adult Critical Care Respiratory Care Specialist (RRT-ACCS)
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist (RRT-NPS)
