About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to join our Construction Management team supporting municipal infrastructure, water, wastewater, and capital improvement projects throughout the New York City and Lower Hudson Valley region. This role is responsible for leading on-site construction oversight, managing field staff, coordinating with contractors and design teams, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with client and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of New York
  • 10 years of experience serving as a Resident Engineer, Assistant Resident Engineer, or in a similar construction management leadership role on large capital improvement projects

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day construction management and resident engineering activities for complex water, wastewater, and municipal infrastructure projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between contractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and design teams throughout project execution.
  • Review construction plans, specifications, RFIs, shop drawings, and proposed design changes to ensure constructability and compliance with project requirements.
  • Manage and mentor construction management field staff, providing oversight of inspections, project documentation, reporting, and contract administration activities.
  • Oversee daily inspection reporting, recordkeeping, correspondence, and preparation of project deliverables in accordance with client requirements.
  • Administer construction contracts, including review and negotiation of change orders, contractor payment applications, and field directives.
  • Monitor contractor performance, safety compliance, quality, schedule adherence, and overall project execution, proactively addressing issues to maintain project objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety regulations, permits, environmental requirements, and agency standards while fostering a strong safety culture across project teams.
