About The Position

This role involves leading the generation and evaluation of new innovative technologies and concepts. The Senior Researcher will conduct research and experiments to collect data, validate research ideas, and write high-quality research reports, publications, and records of invention. The position requires staying updated on industry and technical developments, integrating knowledge, analyzing technology trends, and identifying skill needs. The role also involves managing relationships with divisional staff, ensuring safety practices, defining and planning technical programs, identifying innovative strategies, and leading discussions on technology trends in the automotive sector. The Senior Researcher will develop a global network with universities, government labs, and industrial labs, lead technical discussions as an expert, communicate results across the organization, and coordinate technical programs. Additionally, the role includes growing personal skills, acting as a mentor to junior staff and Innovation Teams, and demonstrating strategic thinking and strong collaboration. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in-office and 2 days remote, with the need to report to the local office.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, or related field of study and two (2) years of experience as a Researcher or related occupation.
  • OR Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, or related field of study and five (5) years of experience as a Researcher or related occupation.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Advanced catalytic-converter modeling, including development of 0D and 1D transient models capturing non-isothermal diffusion, convection, and heterogeneous reaction processes in emission-control systems.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Numerical simulation of coupled transport–reaction systems, including multi-step surface chemistry, mass/heat transfer, and reactor transients in automotive aftertreatment devices.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Development of reduced-order models (ROMs) for exhaust manifolds and multiphase catalytic reactors using CSTR networks, convolution integrals, and residence-time-distribution (RTD) methods.
  • Two (2) years of experience with modeling and optimization of three-way catalysts (TWC), including prediction of hydrogen, CO, HC, and NOx breakthrough for HEGO switching and closed-loop control strategies.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Experimental characterization of catalyst performance using light-off tests, CO-TPR, OSC measurements, and temperature-programmed methods for validating kinetic and thermodynamic models.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Integration of numerical models with physics-based parameter identification frameworks to reduce precious-metal loading and improve emission-control performance.
  • Two (2) years of experience with Development of multi-scale analysis tools combining reactor-scale simulations with catalyst micro-kinetic behaviors to predict transient conversion efficiency under realistic driving cycles.
