About The Position

Troveo is seeking a Senior Researcher to explore and validate opportunities to use its licensed data assets in AI development. The role focuses on monitoring advances in AI and machine learning, experimenting with emerging models and techniques, and identifying ways to enrich or restructure multimodal, audiovisual, and other data assets. The researcher will define opportunities and problems clearly, validate ideas with evidence, and help guide the business toward potential uses for data in model training, product features, and decision-making. The Senior Researcher will own and advance research programs in priority data opportunity areas, designing experiments and proof-of-concepts to test hypotheses and reduce risk. They will turn research into actionable briefs, experiment proposals, success criteria, and recommendations; advise product, prototyping, and engineering collaborators; and maintain knowledge bases and briefings that keep the broader team informed. The role also contributes to prioritization and longer-term opportunity discussions and supports ad hoc business operations requests.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in applied research or machine learning research.
  • A hands-on, experimental mindset and comfort learning by building with new models, APIs, datasets, tools, and techniques.
  • Deep familiarity with large language models, multimodal models, retrieval-augmented generation, agent architectures, fine-tuning, model distillation, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Ability to communicate research findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Master’s degree in Applied Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • A track record centered on opportunity discovery and problem definition.
  • Experience with data enrichment approaches such as synthetic data generation, active learning, weak supervision, and knowledge graph construction.
  • Ability to stay current across research and industry sources while separating signal from noise.
  • Experience collaborating with prototyping or applied teams.
  • Familiarity with Troveo’s business area or ability to ramp up quickly.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and synthesize trends in AI and machine learning research, foundation models, agents, evaluation techniques, and data enrichment methods.
  • Experiment hands-on with emerging models, tools, datasets, and techniques; build lightweight prototypes and run experiments to assess practical potential.
  • Identify opportunities to enrich or restructure internal and external assets, including multimodal and audiovisual sources, and explore ways to generate high-quality training corpora.
  • Translate research into opportunity briefs, experiment proposals, success criteria, and recommendations.
  • Own and advance research programs in priority data opportunity areas, including designing and running experiments and proof-of-concepts.
  • Partner with product, prototyping, and engineering teams by providing well-scoped ideas and research advice.
  • Maintain living knowledge bases and briefings to inform the broader team.
  • Evaluate emerging techniques and research papers for relevance to Troveo.
  • Contribute a research perspective to prioritization and longer-term opportunity discussions.
  • Support business operations with ad hoc requests.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, 100% employer-paid for employees.
  • Unlimited PTO and paid holidays, with encouragement to use the time off.
  • Remote-first work from anywhere in the US, with occasional team offsites.
  • Annual learning stipend, access to top conferences, and direct mentorship from experienced founders.
  • Competitive equity package with growth potential.
  • Budget for equipment and software.
  • High-trust, low-ego culture focused on impact, transparency, and work-life balance.
