About The Position

Morning Consult is seeking an experienced market research professional to join Research Solutions as a Senior Research Manager. The role owns research for a set of client accounts, executing custom quantitative studies, managing multiple projects with limited oversight, and developing client relationships that support renewals and new business. The position reports to a Research Director and works closely with Research Directors, Account Executives, and Research Operations. The Senior Research Manager will help establish team standards by coaching Research Managers and Research Associates on research craft, client service, and quality, including effective and responsible use of AI. The position is based in Washington, DC, New York, NY, or Chicago, IL, or may be remote. The Research Solutions Team delivers custom-designed research and supports the Commercial Organization's growth. It brings together business leaders and researchers with backgrounds in market research, insights, political polling, and strategic consulting.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience designing and analyzing custom quantitative survey research.
A track record of running complex projects from design through client-ready deliverables with minimal oversight.
Experience managing client relationships and deepening trust over time.
Strong methodological knowledge.
Strong prioritization and project management skills across several concurrent projects.
Clear, persuasive written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to turn findings into a compelling story.
Uncompromising attention to detail and high technical standards.
Hands-on experience using AI tools in research or analytical work, with sound judgment about when outputs need correction.
Willingness to take feedback, learn, and grow.

Responsibilities

Nurture day-to-day client relationships and build toward near-autonomous leadership of at least one client; manage moderate-complexity conversations confidently.
Build client trust through proactive communication, consistent delivery, and knowledge of the client's industry, competitors, and stakeholders.
Identify account expansion and research-bank opportunities and present actionable context to the Director or Account Executive.
Contribute research perspectives to proposals and pitches alongside Directors and Account Executives.
Manage the full project lifecycle, from kickoff preparation through post-delivery documentation, across multiple concurrent projects.
Apply methodological knowledge to survey design, analysis, and storytelling independently, identifying gaps in complex project narratives at the outline stage.
Deliver strong first drafts and consistently use deliverable and project checklists at each stage gate.
Meet Morning Consult's client service standards and use its data ecosystem to provide consultative value.
Anticipate downstream client and delivery risks, raise them to the Director with proposed mitigations, and reprioritize project work when timelines or scope change.
Run Research Operations and Sales touchpoints independently while keeping the Director informed.
Coach Research Managers and Research Associates on tasks, service standards, and quality expectations; provide candid feedback and involve junior teammates in skill-building work.
Use AI in higher-complexity research workflows, critically review AI-assisted outputs, and ensure work is client-ready before it advances.
Test new processes, propose improvements that benefit others, and document and share effective practices.
Perform other tasks and duties as required or assigned at the Company's discretion.
