About The Position

The Sr. Research Manager (RM) is responsible for development and execution of the research strategy and overall management of the research portfolio for the Ultrasound AI Center of Excellence, which includes Caption Healthcare and Intelligent Ultrasound teams under our Advanced Visualization Solutions segment. The GEHC AVS segment, a fast-growing business in GE HealthCare, is the global leader in ultrasound medical devices and solutions. The portfolio spans the continuum of care to enable customers with ultrasound screening, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of diseases. Our customers are seeking to improve efficiency in radiology and beyond and increase user confidence to provide better clinical outcomes continues to grow. Consequently, the need for AI, digital solutions, and automation, connecting devices and software in one seamless ecosystem continues to proliferate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in life science, engineering, clinical field, or equivalent
  • 8+ years of experience in medical research and product development
  • Experience in working with AI development in ultrasound imaging
  • Strong experience in engaging with academic and clinical research partners.
  • Proven research experience in a clinical setting, industry, or government agency
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with GXP practices, research or device manufacturer regulations, research processes, or NPI cycles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Leads a cross functional team to develop the research strategy, based on the overall business strategy for Ultrasound Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence.
  • Ensures the research portfolio supports the business focus and the individual study results are being utilized and delivering impact.
  • Engages and supports clinical and technical sites research in their studies and contributes in technical development to support research needs.
  • Collaborates with Business General Manager, Chief Engineer and engineering teams, Director of Product Management, Marketing Director, Clinical Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Legal/Compliance, Central Research Organization, academic institutions, and GE Global Research to develop comprehensive research strategies and plans.
  • Leads the decision making for prioritization and resource allocation across the full research portfolio, including identifying research opportunities that will deliver impact and support business strategy.
  • Seeks out academic partners well-suited for a GEHC partnership.
  • Defines product strategic research needs from business planning sessions, utilizing feedback from product development team.
  • Responds to and assesses incoming research proposals.
  • Develops NPI specific evidence strategies and plans including evaluation plans.
  • Partners with the Research Program Integrator (RPI) to support execution on research studies.
  • Supports the utilization of research results and assesses their impact.
  • Continuously measures impact and value to business of the individual studies and the full research portfolio.
