About The Position

The Senior Research Grant Analyst will work with Principal Investigators and the Grants Management team to effectively manage a complex portfolio of externally and internally sponsored agreements and ensure accurate and timely processing of financial data. This role assists in setting up, maintaining and closing out sponsored awards; inputting approved budgets into the PeopleSoft system and make any necessary budget revisions during the life of the award. The Sr Research Grant Analyst identifies variances and investigates issues of the cost appropriateness of allocations; develop and run queries in performing analysis on sponsored awards. This role generates financial reports; completes periodic and accurate financial reporting and reconciliation; reviews and manages billing for assigned sponsored awards and when applicable, prepares invoices with appropriate documentation as required by sponsoring agency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance/Accounting or a related area and 5 years of experience in grants & contracts or in a related area; or equivalent 7 years of experience in grants & contracts or in a related area.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to be task and detail oriented.
  • Proficient in using MS Excel

Responsibilities

  • Reconciles grants, grant budgets and grant related subawards in PeopleSoft reporting system.
  • Prepares financial reports for Investigators to assist them in tracking and monitoring spending.
  • Subrecipient monitoring/invoicing to ensure subawards are adhering to signed agreements and billing within contract limits in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Reconciles federal grant awards to federal finds made available in the online federal Payment Management System.
  • Assists with pre award processes including application preparation, review of proposals, budgets and forms for completeness and ensures compliance with grant terms.
  • Maintains records related to fund sources, balances and disbursements.
  • Works with the team to ensure that appropriate receipt of funds specific to each grant are collected and open receivables are managed properly.
  • Collaborates with the team to reconcile time and labor reports to actual grant expenditures.
  • Reviews and provide status updates and projections for specific grants with Principal Investigators and others as necessary.
  • Assists finance department during year end audit and Uniform Guidance audit and other requirements as needed.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
