Here, you will make an impact by: Leading the development and application of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to enhance understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer in 3M's material handling, energy transport, products, and processes. Collaborating with a cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to drive the creation of next-generation products through Multiphysics modeling and simulation. Developing and validating CFD models to assist formulators and engineers in identifying optimal design spaces and process improvements, while supporting simulation engagements with customers to address complex fluid dynamics challenges. Initiating and contributing to the analysis and development of intellectual property. Responsibilities of this position include that corporate policies, procedures and security standards are complied with while performing assigned duties. Safety is a core value at 3M. Requirements

  • Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics or other Science areas in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Three (3) years of experience in computational fluid dynamics.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python or another programming language.
  • Fundamental understanding of material handling, energy transport, and fluid flow.
  • Understanding of High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
  • Experience with integrating Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) with CFD models.
  • Familiarity with Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) models and reduced-order models.
  • Proven success in working on global teams, collaborating closely with customers, and the ability to both lead and be an effective member of high-performance teams.
