About The Position

Precigen is seeking a highly motivated and creative Senior Research Associate, Adenovector Research and Development (level determined by candidate experience) with exceptional cell culture, molecular and virology research skills to support our vaccine research initiatives to advance Precigen programs and technology platforms in our Germantown, MD office. The ideal candidate will have the use of adenovirus vectors for therapeutics, will work within and between departments, carry out a variety of diverse laboratory procedures, work under general supervision and work well in a team and independently. We are seeking candidates looking for a fast paced, exciting working environment utilizing state of the art technology.

Requirements

  • BS in biological sciences or related area and a minimum of 4-5 years of laboratory experience; or equivalent. MS would require 2-3 years of laboratory experience
  • Hands on experience required in cell biology, virology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and/or immunology.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge using MS Office.
  • Works well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to formally present his/her own work to a small group and in the recurring Department meetings.
  • Good verbal and writing skills - able to convey information in a clear and concise manner; able to write clear and concise technical reports.
  • Organizes work effectively and uses time efficiently

Responsibilities

  • Carries out a variety of diverse laboratory procedures and assists in planning preliminary experimental designs.
  • Works cooperatively and effectively with others both within and between departments/teams.
  • Assists in preparing technical reports and summaries and provides input to the interpretation of experimental results.
  • Perform two or more of the following techniques: cell culture, virus culture, PCR, plasmid cloning, in vivo analysis, and/or western blotting.
  • Troubleshoots general technical problems.
  • Record lab protocols and results in an electronic lab notebook (ELN.)
  • Use scientific literature to keep aware of current technologies.
  • Attends and presents results at department/team meetings.
  • May order lab supplies, keep inventory and provide maintenance on lab equipment; may order and distribute critical reagents.
  • Comply with all applicable policies regarding health, safety and the environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
