About The Position

The Center for Surgery and Public Health (CSPH), established in 2005 as a joint initiative of Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), is a leading research center focused on the public health aspects of surgical care delivery. The center utilizes innovative research methodologies to study the effectiveness, quality, equity, and value of surgical care at the population level. They have contributed to the development of surgical safety checklists, created a national agenda for surgical disparities research, and are dedicated to training future physician-scientists in surgical health services research. Their work aims to make surgery safer, more patient-centered, and more accessible globally.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Science required
  • 3-5 years relevant research and data management experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required for working with the study participants.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfort with digital research tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities across concurrent studies.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
  • Professionalism and respect for patient needs, confidentiality, and ethical research conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research studies as per study guidelines and protocols.
  • Coordinate facilitated group meetings with participating sites, including scheduling, communications, materials, logistics, and follow-up.
  • Recruit, screen, and consent study participants across clinical settings.
  • Collect, manage, and maintain accurate and confidential research data and participant records using REDCap.
  • Perform data entry, basic quantitative analyses, and routine reporting.
  • Conduct qualitative coding.
  • Maintain regulatory documents and IRB as needed.
  • Assist with drafting annual progress reports and other study documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with investigators, research staff, and institutional partners.
  • Maintain accurate, organized, and confidential study files and records in accordance with applicable policies and ethical research standards.
  • All other duties as assigned.
