About The Position

The Senior Research Assistant serves as the Program Manager for the Arkansas Certified Public Manager® (CPM) Program, which is accredited through the National CPM Consortium (NCPMC). The program is a comprehensive leadership and management program committed to developing exceptional public managers. This position serves as a valuable member of the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium (APAC), located in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This is a 12-month grant-funded position. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of annual grant funding. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in training, program management, and/or conference/event planning
  • Program evaluation experience
  • Clear, concise, and compelling written and oral communication
  • Collaboration skills that encourage teamwork, respect, engagement, and buy-in
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple, concurrent tasks and projects
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse program participants, stakeholders, and alumni
  • Ability to quickly learn online technology required for learning, data collection and analysis, participation tracking, and program marketing such as Google Products (forms, docs, slides, sheets), Zoom, Canvas Learning Management System, Qualtrics, WordPress, Facebook Ads Manager, etc.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

  • Experience with adult education, teaching, facilitation, creating online learning experiences with significant engagement, implementing learning innovations, marketing programs, online technology required for learning, program strategic planning, and/or mentoring professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage all program logistics, policies, procedures, communication, and record keeping.
  • Develop experiences for participants that maximize management and leadership learning.
  • Mentor and support program participants.
  • Implement a thorough program evaluation process.
  • Actively participate in the National CPM Consortium (NCPMC) and serve as the voting member for the Arkansas program.
  • Oversee the NCPCM continuing accreditation process.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and marketing campaigns as well as stakeholder development initiatives.
  • Facilitate the CPM Advisory Council.
  • Develop effective working relationships with program stakeholders.
  • Identify and secure resources to support the program.
  • Manage program strategic planning.
  • Instruct trainings that focus on orienting participants to the program and various program requirements.
  • Provide instruction in additional areas of expertise.
  • Recruit, support, and evaluate program instructors.
  • Assist with hiring, training, supervising, and supporting graduate assistants, program coordinators, and others assisting with program support work.
  • Be the APAC liaison to CPM alumni associations.
  • Develop and implement alumni engagement activities.
  • Engage in the larger conversation about public sector management and leadership. This includes attending relevant events; giving presentations; and creating relevant social media content.
  • Support other APAC programs, projects, planning, and administration when needed.
