About The Position

The Core Repair team is responsible for creating tools, methods and processes to perform Major Component Upgrades (MCUs) and Uptower Repairs on Onshore Wind Turbines. These projects work in tandem with the New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to improve Design for Serviceability by increasing safety and reducing lifecycle costs estimates. The Core Repair Technical Leader (TL) is responsible for leading the team to meet a level of standards of technical and quality work. The TL will work with the cross functional teams, such as Installation Engineering, Product Line, NPI Engineering, etc., to create and understand project requirements, financial business cases, design scope and envelopes while also setting serviceability expectations and goals in NPI programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Extensive years of experience in engineering.
  • Technical Expertise
  • Experience in Onshore Wind Turbines
  • Proven experience in Tool/Repair Design and Development as well as Product/Field Services and Outage
  • Strong proficiency in the ability to work through complex/unknown repair processes and issues
  • Strong proficiency in Structural Design with FEA and 3D Modeling
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills to allow one to work with senior management and technicians
  • Ability to incorporate AI/Generative tools to streamline design process

  • Ability and willingness to travel globally up to 10-15% of the time as required.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and assist team members in designing and developing tools/processes to meet design intent and safety requirements.
  • Act as a role model for team members to drive a Design mentality that involves setting and maintaining standard work, Design Practices, risk assessment and accountability within the Core Repair space.
  • Maintain awareness of program level risks for serviceability and repair with other TLs/SILs while prioritizing programs.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for Design Reviews, eDRB, and PLM.
  • Own the standard work and risk mitigation strategies specifically for emergent repair operations.
  • Participate in operations planning (SII/Op Plan) while determining/creating learning opportunities for the team members.
