About The Position

Lightsource bp is seeking an experienced Senior Asset Manager to oversee the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of utility‑scale solar assets. This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports, ideal for candidates who bring deep renewable energy experience and can independently manage complex assets, financial structures, and stakeholder relationships. This position is responsible for maximizing asset performance, ensuring contractual compliance, optimizing revenue, and driving operational improvements across a growing portfolio of renewable energy projects.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in renewable energy asset management, project operations, or power generation.
  • Experience managing utility‑scale renewable energy assets, ideally solar or storage projects.
  • Experience working with lenders, tax equity investors, utilities, and third‑party operators.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex commercial and operational relationships.
  • Strong understanding of utility‑scale solar PV systems and asset performance analytics.
  • Experience with P&L ownership, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for energy assets.
  • Familiarity with project agreements such as PPAs, EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and financing structures.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Own the financial performance and P&L of a portfolio of utility‑scale solar projects.
  • Track revenue, operating expenses, and budget performance through variance analysis and forecasting.
  • Manage relationships with tax equity investors, lenders, and financial stakeholders.
  • Monitor debt compliance, liquidity forecasts, and reserve account requirements.
  • Prepare financial and operational reports for leadership, lenders, and investors.
  • Support strategic initiatives such as refinancing, portfolio optimization, and M&A diligence.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for offtakers, utilities, landowners, and service providers.
  • Manage key project agreements including PPAs, O&M agreements, EPC contracts, interconnection agreements, and land leases.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project value through contract management, cost optimization, and operational improvements.
  • Manage warranty claims and coordinate with OEMs and service providers on equipment performance issues.
  • Lead negotiations for amendments, renewals, and commercial agreements.
  • Oversee daily operations of utility‑scale solar assets to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance.
  • Partner with O&M providers to monitor plant performance using SCADA systems and operational KPIs.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for plant performance issues.
  • Support project commissioning and transition from construction to operations.
  • Ensure assets meet regulatory, environmental, and contractual requirements.
