About The Position

The Senior Reliability Engineer works to eliminate system constraints through continuous improvement and prevent equipment failures that interrupt production. The role develops maintenance methods to improve process efficiency and reliability, investigates failures, identifies corrective actions and technologies, and researches reliability processes and predictive methods. It evaluates existing processes and equipment onsite, promotes precision maintenance, reviews equipment performance indices, and develops preventive maintenance opportunities and plans through failure mode and effect analysis. The engineer also analyzes CMMS data to identify equipment health indicators and reporting needs, and provides safety-focused recommendations to eliminate hazards. The position is based at Freeport-McMoRan’s Bagdad operations in Arizona. The site offers housing at a subsidized rate and community amenities. Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam and required training or testing. Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, potentially including shifts other than day shift, at a 24/7 operation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and five years of related engineering experience, or a master’s degree in an appropriate engineering discipline and three years of related engineering experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
Ability to understand information and ideas and communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Customer-focused approach to providing quality service and improving equipment and process reliability.
Knowledge and understanding of reliability-centered maintenance practices.
Experience with engineering design drawings and schematics.
Self-starter with solid integrity.
Understanding of the importance of safety, legality, and quality.
May be required to pass a medical exam and all required training and/or testing.
Must comply with mandatory pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing as allowed by applicable laws.

Responsibilities

Identify system constraints and proactively pursue their elimination through continuous improvement.
Prevent equipment failures from interrupting continuous production and reduce production costs by developing maintenance methods that improve process efficiency and reliability.
Lead or perform root cause analysis of equipment failures, act as a subject matter expert as needed, and assist with identifying and implementing corrective actions or technologies.
Research new reliability processes and identify methods to predict and improve reliability.
Evaluate existing processes and equipment onsite and establish departmental expectations for precision maintenance.
Review and establish key performance indices for equipment.
Identify preventive maintenance opportunities and maintenance plans by leading failure mode and effect analysis.
Analyze CMMS data for equipment health indicators and identify reports to measure those indicators.
Develop and provide a safety perspective for equipment and processes, recommending engineering solutions or methods to eliminate hazards.
Perform other duties as required.
