About The Position

The Senior Reliability Engineer is responsible for managing assigned projects from concept through start-up, providing continuous in-plant engineering support to normal mill maintenance, and leading Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to eliminate equipment reliability issues. This role involves providing technical assistance to production, reliability, and quality groups to solve equipment and process-related problems, optimizing manufacturing processes by investigating and eliminating root causes of equipment failures, and evaluating new technologies. The engineer will implement process changes and develop systems to reduce operating costs, increase production, and improve quality. They will also lead the technical process for operating areas, provide support data for reports, analyze production schedules for potential modifications to reduce downtime, and assist in designing solutions to eliminate equipment failures and process instabilities. Additionally, the role includes coordinating failure analysis, tracking and analyzing work orders to recommend changes in maintenance or operational procedures, developing and conducting technical reliability studies, investigating variables affecting products and processes, ensuring corrective measures meet reliability standards, and proposing design changes to improve system reliability. Collaboration with operations and maintenance teams to meet downtime reduction goals is also a key aspect. The position also involves assisting in the management of Predictive and Preventative Maintenance programs, participating in the development of less experienced engineers, managing capital projects at times, and facilitating Reliability Steering Teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in engineering, preferably in the paper industry and preferably reliability engineering experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with vendors, managers, and production employees to achieve goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of managing Process Safety Management programs.
  • Familiar with and have a good working knowledge of construction and repair codes (ASME, API, NBIC, NEC etc.).
  • Must be capable of understanding and troubleshooting complex industrial systems and equipment.
