Job Summary The Reinsurance Senior Analyst supports the day to day execution of ceded reinsurance operations, with a focus on group captive administration, reinsurer audit preparation and support, and ProCede based reporting and analytical deliverables that support business partners across the reinsurance lifecycle. The role performs detailed analysis and validation of reinsurance activity, reconciles results to contractual terms, and produces clear, timely reporting to support financial reporting and operational decision making. In close partnership with key stakeholders—including Underwriting, Actuarial, Accounting/Finance, Technology, Reinsurance Operations, and external reinsurance markets—the Senior Analyst helps maintain data integrity and effective operational controls by investigating exceptions, resolving variances, coordinating corrective actions, and maintaining documentation to support consistent and accurate reinsurance processing. The role also contributes to continuous improvement by identifying process and reporting enhancements and supporting testing and implementation efforts to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of downstream reinsurance data.

Requirements

• Knowledge of reinsurance principles, practices and procedures, products and services
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal and external clients at all levels.
• Sound decision-making and problem skills.
• Ability to negotiate and influence business partners
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business related software.
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, or related disciplines.
• Typically a minimum of four years related insurance/reinsurance industry experience with a financial emphasis.

• Professional designation of Associate in Reinsurance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports and develops analysis of reinsurance accounts and contractual requirements, including but not limited to exposure/cession based rates/thresholds, limits/retentions, annual aggregate deductibles/limits, loss corridors, application of experience adjustments, monitors large losses,. Interacts with reinsurance claims a regular basis.
• Assists efforts of multi-departmental teams on assumed and ceded reinsurance accounts under complex Treaty and/or Facultative certificates for the purpose of recovering of outstanding assumed and ceded balances due the company.
• Pursues recovery of balances on most complex and/or contentious reinsurance accounts by working with brokers, reinsureds, and reinsurers. Liaison with the collections unit to identify and resolve complex settlement issues.
• Works with brokers/reinsureds/reinsurers to explain coverage and income opportunities and liabilities while gaining support for the company’s position.
• Develops financial analysis reports on reinsurers to support collateral requirements.
• Monitors aging of outstanding assumed and ceded balances for assigned accounts. Initiates corrective action to ensure payment on a timely basis.
• Coordinates with business units and corporate finance areas in the reporting of financial statement Schedule F and other processes.
• Participates in special projects and multi-departmental teams.
• Participates in the development of new policies and makes recommendations for clarification and/or improvement to current policies and procedures. May perform additional duties as assigned.
