About The Position

SC&A is seeking an experienced professional to lead efforts supporting federal clients like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and other federal agencies involved in the development of federal regulations as a Senior Regulatory Specialist. Successful applicants will have a science or policy background with demonstrated experience with the Administrative Procedures Act, regulations.gov, fdms.gov, dockets, public comment management, drafting of federal regulations, contributions to basis and purpose rationale for preambles, public hearings and informational meetings, and administrative records management. This role is designed for someone who already knows the work - an established professional who values flexibility, collaboration, and the opportunity to contribute to projects with real environmental and public health impacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university
  • Significant experience leading or supporting regulatory efforts for federal programs or facilities (min. 15 years preferred).
  • Strong project management and client communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across distributed technical teams
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance is required

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Lead or contribute significantly to regulatory development projects
  • Manage teams of subject matter expert scientists and engineers, as well as policy specialists.
  • Support challenging projects that are often driven by court-ordered deadlines or Administrative priorities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to federal clients and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic project planning.
