About The Position

The Senior Regulatory Relations Analyst serves as the enterprise coordinator and primary liaison for regulatory examinations, supervisory communications, and remediation activities. Working within Enterprise Risk Management, this position facilitates productive and consistent engagement between regulatory agencies and management while ensuring regulatory expectations, supervisory recommendations, and examination activities are effectively coordinated across the organization. The role also supports the Enterprise Risk Management team with enterprise risk assessments, governance activities, and control evaluations to help ensure risks are identified, monitored, and appropriately mitigated. The Senior Regulatory Relations Analyst supports the Chief Risk Officer as the central point of contact with regulators to achieve a more informed, efficient and effective examination process across the organization. In addition, this role leads and supports the Company’s risk management framework, and to help ensure risk is appropriately mitigated to minimize losses to the Company. Acts as a trusted advisor to executive management regarding regulatory expectations, examination preparedness, issue remediation, and risk governance practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field required with minimum of 3 years’ experience in relevant regulatory, enterprise risk management, auditing or business process.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, experience interacting directly with regulatory bodies, managing exam processes.
  • Experience in banking or a financial services industry background preferred.
  • Strong proficiency with enterprise risk management. Prior experience in identification of controls and control evaluation. Working knowledge of business process controls, entity level controls, Auditing Standards, generally accepted accounting practices (GAAP), and operational risks.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization through strong verbal and written communication skills as well as confidentiality required.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain examination protocols and standards. Serve as the centralized coordinator for all regulatory examinations, visitations, supervisory requests, and information requests.
  • Maintain the enterprise examination management framework, including examination schedules, regulatory request tracking, status reporting, document repositories and regulatory exam recommendations tracking report, including status meetings with responsible management, progress, review of remediation documentation and transmitting supporting documentation to the regulators.
  • Coordinate examination planning meetings, examiner onboarding, management interviews, and examination closeout activities.
  • Prepare management committee and board reporting related to examination activity, supervisory findings, emerging regulatory risks and remediation progress.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory developments (excluding regulatory compliance) and prepare executive summaries of emerging regulatory expectations and supervisory trends, including how the Company may be affected.
  • To strengthen enterprise risk integration, participate with Risk Management teammates in enterprise-wide risks and control assessments, including specific targeted assessments, to ensure timely and accurately completion, including capturing and assessing any control testing exceptions, process, and/or control changes to help ensure the Company’s risk profile is effectively communicated according to Company standards.
  • Perform risk event related analysis to identify root cause, identify gaps between implemented controls and key risks and recommend opportunities for improvement and provide strategic and proactive consultation to the business units in identifying and developing solutions for remediation. Follow-up and track resolution of opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with the Business Unit Managers to discuss/evaluate key risks/controls.
  • Promotes and maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a positive, professional manner to work effectively with co-workers, management, partners, and vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and prescribed policies/practices/procedures necessary to reduce risk and uphold ethical standards related to and required by one’s duties.
