About The Position

The Senior Registered Dental Assistant II provides chairside and clinical support to dentists during general and more complex dental procedures, anticipates provider needs, and helps maintain efficient patient and room flow. The role includes taking diagnostic-quality dental X-rays within the permitted scope, supporting intraoral scanning, impressions, clinical photography, and other procedures within scope, and completing clinical documentation in Open Dental. The position also handles instrument sterilization, lab-case and supply organization, operatory preparation and turnover, and routine back-office housekeeping. It supports patient experience by preparing and seating patients, answering questions, and assisting the front office when needed. As a senior team member, the role helps train and onboard dental assistants and sterilization technicians, supports dentists joining the practice, and contributes to keeping providers on schedule and the office operating smoothly.

Requirements

Current California Dental Radiation Safety (X-ray) Certificate.
3–6 years of experience, as stated in the posting.
Ability to perform listed clinical duties within the permitted scope.

Responsibilities

Assist dentists during general and more complex dental procedures and anticipate provider needs.
Provide chairside assistance, including suction, isolation, instrument transfer, material preparation, and other permitted duties.
Take diagnostic-quality dental X-rays within the permitted scope and ensure images are captured and documented properly.
Support intraoral scanning, impressions, clinical photography, and other procedures within the permitted scope.
Enter doctors’ treatment plans and required clinical information into charts and support completion of documentation in Open Dental.
Prepare operatories, instruments, materials, and procedure setups before each patient; turn over and disinfect rooms promptly after procedures.
Review charts, medical histories, treatment needs, and required clinical information before seating patients.
Seat and prepare patients and support a comfortable patient experience; provide warm towels, answer questions, and give new-patient tours when the front office is busy.
Perform coronal polishing, pit and fissure sealants, topical fluoride, temporary restorations, matrix placement and removal, excess cement removal, and certain orthodontic functions, as permitted.
Sterilize instruments, organize cassettes, monitor lab cases, organize extra supplies, and order dental supplies through Dentira as needed.
Maintain stocked and organized operatories; identify and communicate supply, equipment, or clinical-flow issues proactively.
Help keep providers on schedule by minimizing room-turnover time, anticipating schedule needs, and managing patient, room, and instrument flow.
Prepare rooms for the next day and patients and mark them on the schedule.
Assist with patient check-in, escort patients to operatories, and answer phones when the front office is busy.
Keep operatories, check-in/check-out areas, floors, lights, and doors clean; complete daily, weekly, and monthly back-office housekeeping.
Train and support Dental Assistant I and Sterilization Technician team members on clinical workflows, room turnover, sterilization, and company standards.
Serve as a senior clinical-support resource for Dental Assistant I–II and Sterilization Technician team members.
Help onboard new dentists and assistants to Clove’s clinical workflows and standards; train and onboard DA I, DA II, and RDA I team members on back-office workflows.
Arrive on time, stay until close, build schedules for productive days, and be willing to work as needed.
Listen to feedback and continue to grow; recommend new patients, refer new staff to the recruiting team, and volunteer for events, social work, and marketing efforts.
