About The Position

As part of the Tech24 team and broader Tech24 network, the Senior Refrigeration Technician serves as a lead field expert in commercial refrigeration (cold side) equipment. This role is responsible for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and mentoring junior technicians while ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. The Senior Technician works independently in fast-paced foodservice environments, minimizing downtime and ensuring critical kitchen and refrigeration systems remain fully operational. This is a senior-level, customer-facing role requiring deep technical expertise in commercial kitchen equipment and refrigeration systems - not a traditional residential or light commercial HVAC position.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial foodservice equipment and refrigeration service experience
  • Strong expertise in commercial cooking equipment (gas, electric, steam)
  • Solid refrigeration diagnostic skills (self-contained systems and walk-ins)
  • EPA Universal Certification preferred (required if handling refrigerant)
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical schematics
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record required
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs. and work in varying indoor / outdoor conditions
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from heights, and crawl in tight quarters
  • Own industry standard hand tools
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturer certifications and CFESA credentials are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex commercial cooking equipment including ovens, fryers, steamers, grills, ranges, kettles and combi ovens (a plus)
  • Service and repair commercial refrigeration systems including walk-ins, reach-ins, prep tables, undercounter units, ice machines etc,
  • Perform advanced electrical, gas, and mechanical diagnostics
  • Identify root cause of recurring equipment failures and recommend long-term solutions
  • Lead major repairs, equipment replacements, and system startups
  • Mentor and support Junior Technicians and apprentices in the field
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is completed thoroughly and to company standards
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding system conditions, repair options, and preventative maintenance strategies
  • Accurately document service calls, parts usage, labor hours, and detailed repair notes
  • Manage truck inventory and maintain proper tools and materials
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service calls as needed
  • Engage in ongoing technical training to remain current with manufacturer updates and industry advancements
