About The Position

Peraton is looking for a Senior R&D Engineer. In this position, you will be working within a small government-contractor team on the development, integration, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of research and development electronic systems used during naval vessel sea trials. In this hands-on position, you may lead or perform various technical duties concerned with the application of the fundamentals and principles of professional engineering, computer hardware, systems software, computer system architecture and integration, and mathematics. This field is primarily concerned with complex computer-based systems that require research, design, development, and maintenance of computer equipment and interfaces (hardware) and applications and support (firmware and software). You will be working on challenging assignments, in tropical locales, that directly impacts the success of the U.S. Naval Fleet. Your duties may include software/firmware development and maintenance; originating, evaluating and implementing designs for computer system architecture, software development, and operator/machine interfaces for ship R&D systems; and computer integration engineering. You will be evaluating operational systems and recommending design modifications to eliminate causes of malfunctions or to improve robustness. This full time onsite position is located at the Acoustic Trials Detachment (ATD) of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) in Titusville, Florida. Travel: Up to 1 week/month travel to Andros Island, Bahamas and/or other NSWCCD facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD.
  • Experience must be relevant to the development of high speed / large capacity data acquisition and storage systems.
  • Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Demonstrable proficiency with troubleshooting electronic and electrical systems.
  • Must be internally motivated, having a “self-starter” type personality.
  • Reliable and can be trusted to work consistently on tasks without close supervision, individually, or as part of a small team.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with high-speed telemetry acquisition and storage systems is highly desirable.
