About The Position

Quanex IG is looking for a Senior Quality Engineer to join our team located in Cambridge, OH. The Sr Quality Engineer assists with the development, and implementation of quality assurance programs under ISO 9001 guidelines. This position is responsible for quality assurance training, managing the ISO 9001 system, conducting internal audits, and providing work direction to the Q.A. Lab team. They are the primary liaison between customers or suppliers and Quanex on quality-related issues and ensure reliability of products and conformance to all requirements.

Requirements

A strong mathematical background is required to compile statistical data
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree or Associate’s degree in a relevant field preferred (Mechanical or Industrial Engineering)
5+ years of experience in a Quality position preferred within a manufacturing environment and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9001 and Lean Six Sigma is preferred

Responsibilities

Work with operations, manufacturing and product engineering, suppliers, and customers to develop quality standards and specifications to ensure product acceptability.
Establish and track quality metrics and troubleshoot any quality-related issues.
Prepare reports of internal or external quality audits and materials.
Visit customers on a routine or emergency basis to resolve quality issues and verify supplier quality systems on the production floor.
Assure accuracy of quality documentation including hold tags, inspection reports, data collection, supplier inspection reports, test reports and others as applicable.
Administer ISO training and certification process to ensure each individual within the internal auditing process is qualified for the position that they occupy.
Assure that all products and services conform to specified requirements, are made in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system, and that all documentation required by the system is kept current and properly controlled.
Lead cross-functional teams in problem solving to establish definitive root cause and effective corrective actions for both internal and supplier quality issues.
Perform any needed inspection tasks in emergency, temporary absences, or other appropriate circumstances.
Works well independently and shows leadership, establishing priorities and meeting objectives for themselves and the team.
Travel as needed to various company facilities and performs other related duties as necessary/assigned.
