Senior Quality Engineer (Hybrid)

Lakeshore Learning MaterialsCarson, CA
Hybrid

About The Position

At Lakeshore, every product that reaches a child has been held to a standard — and you're part of how we set it. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll own the testing strategy for our toys, soft goods, and plastics, translating product requirements into rigorous test plans that give our design and development teams the confidence to move forward. Your analysis shapes real product decisions, and your work connects directly to the safety and reliability of products used by children and families every day.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in product engineering, quality engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • Solid working knowledge of ASTM and other relevant industry testing standards, with the ability to select the right standard for each application
  • Experience developing or executing test plans for consumer products, including coordination with third-party testing laboratories
  • Comfortable with data analysis and building clear, audience-ready reports — proficiency in MS Office required
  • Able to work onsite at our Carson, CA headquarters on a hybrid schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for children's products (toys, soft goods, or similar categories)
  • Experience with global manufacturing environments and raw material processing
  • Background working cross-functionally with product development or design teams in a consumer goods setting
  • You translate dense test data into a clear story — adjusting your depth and language for the room, whether that's an engineer or an executive
  • You spot gaps in a testing approach before they become problems, and you're proactive about raising them with the right people
  • You take real ownership: when a process is inconsistent or a standard is missing, you build the solution rather than work around it
  • You bring a collaborative mindset to cross-functional work — you know that good quality outcomes depend on alignment, not just expertise

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end product test plan for assigned categories — toys, plastics, and soft goods — from new product development baselines through final performance validation
  • Analyze test results against defined requirements and deliver clear, concise summaries that give cross-functional teams the insight they need to make sound product decisions
  • Identify and apply relevant ASTM and industry standards for raw materials and finished goods, building and maintaining a library of test methods that ensures consistency across in-house and third-party lab testing
  • Partner with RD&D and Global Sourcing to align product design with performance requirements, presenting test plans and results in terms that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with the in-house lab manager to assess testing capabilities and coordinate with third-party labs to close gaps
  • Share expertise with RD&D partners on applicable testing standards, helping the broader team make better-informed design decisions earlier in development
