This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations. Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Senior Quality Control Electrical Engineer to provide comprehensive oversight of electrical systems throughout complex industrial projects. This senior-level position is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards are maintained during both design and construction phases, serving as the technical authority for electrical quality control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Current Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Minimum 150 years of experience in electrical engineering with focus on quality control
  • Proven experience with complex industrial projects
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, NFPA, IEEE)
  • Strong understanding of electrical system design, construction, and installation practices
  • Experience with quality assurance methodologies and inspection techniques
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to access construction sites and mechanical spaces
  • May require climbing ladders, working at heights, or in confined spaces
  • PPE compliance required when visiting job sites
  • May require travel to project sites

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience in aerospace, energy, or advanced manufacturing industries
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Experience with high and medium voltage systems
  • Background in industrial automation and control systems

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert oversight and technical leadership during the design phase of electrical systems
  • Develop and implement electrical quality control plans, procedures, and inspection criteria
  • Conduct regular inspections of electrical installations, systems, and components during construction
  • Review electrical design documents, drawings, and specifications for compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements
  • Identify non-conformances and develop corrective action plans
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design engineers, construction managers, and contractors, and maintenance teams
  • Maintain detailed documentation of inspections, testing, and quality control activities
  • Verify proper implementation of electrical quality requirements and standards
  • Participate in design and construction meetings to represent quality control interests
  • Monitor and evaluate contractor and subcontractor performance regarding electrical quality through all phases of construction and commissioning
  • Lead electrical quality reviews for commissioning events and ensure electrical systems and equipment perform to standards and as required by codes and standards
