About The Position

Crusoe is hiring a Senior QA Engineer for its Client Interfaces team, which owns the customer- and internal-user-facing surfaces of Crusoe Cloud, including the Console and Admin Console, customer and admin CLIs, MCP servers, Terraform provider, documentation, and Intelligence Foundry / AI Studio. The role is the team’s first dedicated quality engineering position and will define how a consistent quality bar is applied across these surfaces. The engineer will own end-to-end test strategy, build and maintain automation frameworks, and ensure features behave consistently across interfaces. The role combines browser, API, CLI, and infrastructure-tool testing with exploratory testing and release-readiness work. It also involves using AI tools to generate and maintain tests, reviewing their output, coaching engineers, and collaborating with design, product, and platform teams to establish measurable quality criteria.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, or SDET roles on customer-facing products.
Experience building or helping build a TypeScript automation framework from scratch and running it in CI.
Ability to discuss automation framework parallelization, retries, network interception, flakiness, and lessons learned.
Comfort testing HTTP APIs, CLIs, and infrastructure tooling.
Willingness to ramp up on Go and Terraform provider acceptance testing.
Daily use of AI coding and testing tools, such as Claude Code or similar agents, to generate and maintain test suites.
Ability to identify limitations in AI-generated tests and help others use AI tools effectively.
Strong exploratory testing instincts and judgment about when discovered bugs should be automated.
Clear written communication, including self-contained bug reports, test plans, and release notes.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end test strategy across the Console, CLIs, Terraform provider, and MCP servers.
Develop Playwright end-to-end suites, Go-based integration and acceptance tests, Terraform plan/apply/destroy lifecycle tests using terraform-plugin-testing, and contract tests against generated API clients.
Build automation frameworks and maintain their reliability through parallel execution, flakiness reduction, and GitHub Actions CI integration.
Verify that features shipping across the Console, CLI, Terraform, and MCP behave consistently, and build harnesses to detect cross-surface drift.
Define quality gates and release criteria with engineering and product teams.
Use agents to generate test suites from OpenAPI specifications and tickets; review AI-generated tests for meaningful assertions and use AI triage to distinguish real failures from flaky tests.
Perform exploratory testing for micro-interactions, empty states, error copy, accessibility, upgrade paths, and documentation mismatches.
Address quality issues spanning multiple surfaces, including Terraform provider breaking-change management, API contract changes affecting generated clients, and design system migrations.
Coach software engineers in test design through code review and pairing, and collaborate with design, product, and platform teams.
Translate qualitative expectations for product usability into concrete, testable criteria.
