Senior QA Automation Engineer

Revenova LLCChicago, IL
$115,000 - $125,000Remote

About The Position

The Senior QA Automation Engineer owns automated test strategy and coverage across our TMS, setting the direction the rest of the team builds upon. This is a heavy automation and AI role: you use AI daily as your default way of working, not as an occasional aid, and you bring the judgment to validate what it produces rather than simply trust it. You also lead how AI-assisted testing gets established as a standard practice across the broader QA team, working alongside QA Analysts and other engineers as a mentor. This is deliberately not a developer role, and it's not a fit for someone who assumes they already know better than the team and process they're joining. We're looking for someone who cares about getting this right, wants to own our TMS and Salesforce testing strategy end to end, and brings genuine curiosity, process discipline, and the judgment to mentor others along the way.

Requirements

  • Daily, hands-on use of AI tools in real testing work is required, not a bonus. Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar. You can point to specific, concrete examples of how it changed your output, such as coverage reached faster or manual maintenance reduced, and you've helped others adopt this way of working too.
  • The judgment to validate AI output, not just produce it, and to teach that judgment to others. You can spot the failure mode where an AI-generated test passes without asserting anything meaningful, or where AI-assisted review misses a real defect.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience writing and maintaining automated tests (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java), within an AI-assisted workflow, including experience building meaningful automated coverage where little or none existed before.
  • Experience reviewing or auditing another engineer's or team's test automation code, including AI-generated test code, with the judgment to explain whether it's good.
  • API and integration testing experience; able to identify which layer a given risk belongs to.
  • A QA mindset, not a developer's. Genuinely cares whether the product works for the people using it, not about proving they're the smartest person in the room.
  • Genuine curiosity about process and the product; wants to understand how our TMS and QA process work before suggesting changes.
  • Comfortable being the most automation-experienced person on the team, and comfortable mentoring others without making that a whole identity.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or leading other testers or engineers, formally or informally.
  • Experience connecting automated test suites to a CI/CD pipeline and troubleshooting flaky tests.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce platform experience, including automating against Lightning/LWC UI, Apex testing basics, and sandbox/scratch org lifecycle.
  • Logistics, TMS, freight brokerage, or supply chain software experience, including understanding load tendering, carrier management, rating, dispatch, and EDI/API carrier integrations.
  • Experience collaborating with a distributed or third-party test automation team.
  • Experience evaluating or selecting automation frameworks and tooling for a team.
  • Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer I/II, Administrator) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own the standing review function for automated test coverage across the TMS, setting the bar for what counts as trustworthy regression signal, not just applying an existing one.
  • Flag unreliable, flaky, or false-positive tests, including AI-generated tests, and set the standards the rest of the team uses to catch them.
  • Set direction for automated test coverage on Revenova's Salesforce-native TMS, recommending priorities and approach to the QA Manager rather than simply executing an existing plan.
  • Use AI tools daily as the default way of working: generating test cases from a spec, maintaining and refactoring existing suites, and accelerating review of test output.
  • Lead how AI-assisted testing is established and adopted as a required practice across the QA team, mentoring QA Analysts and other engineers directly.
  • Build deep familiarity with the TMS and the underlying Salesforce platform.
  • Mentor QA Analysts and other engineers, reviewing their automation work and helping them build their own judgment, not just their tool usage.
