About The Position

Join the technology division of a global financial services organization supporting banking operations, enterprise risk management, and critical business applications. The team develops scalable, reliable technology solutions that strengthen data processing, application performance, and risk-related decision-making.

This hands-on engineering role focuses on building applications from the ground up, solving complex technical challenges, and contributing to modern cloud-based platforms. The position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a hybrid work arrangement, and is a long-term W2 contract opportunity. The developer will work on scalable Python applications, Azure cloud technologies, data engineering, analytics, and risk management applications, while contributing to architectural decisions and end-to-end application development.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of professional software development experience; preferably 10 or more years in enterprise application environments.
• Advanced Core Python expertise, including substantial hands-on experience designing and developing applications from the ground up.
• Strong SQL proficiency, including complex queries, data manipulation, analytics, and database-driven application development.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major Python web framework: FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Demonstrated system design capabilities, including application architecture, scalability considerations, and technical decision-making.
• Experience developing backend services, REST APIs, and integrations with relational databases.
• Working knowledge of JavaScript and frontend technologies; React is preferred.
• Experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud application services, including Azure Functions, App Service, or container-based environments.
• Experience with Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps for source control and development collaboration.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts and architectural decisions.
• A hands-on engineering mindset, with recent experience personally developing production applications rather than focusing primarily on oversight, maintenance, or support.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to Azure Databricks, PySpark, Apache Spark, notebooks, Delta Lake, or data orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Azure Data Lake Storage.
• Experience supporting financial services applications, particularly risk management systems.
• 10 or more years of experience in enterprise application environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance highly scalable applications using Core Python, emphasizing performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build backend services and application functionality using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Develop complex SQL queries, data processing routines, and database integrations to support business applications and analytical workloads.
• Integrate Python-based services with JavaScript and React frontend components as part of full stack application development.
• Design application architectures, evaluate technical alternatives, and explain system design decisions to engineering stakeholders.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs to support communication between applications, databases, and enterprise systems.
• Use Azure cloud services to develop, deploy, integrate, and maintain application components.
• Support data processing and engineering initiatives involving Azure Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, and related technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions.
• Apply software engineering best practices, including version control, code quality, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
