About The Position

This is a temporary contract role for a Senior Python Engineer focused on backend services for an operational dashboard product. The engineer will build and maintain application services, including an events module, data export capabilities, and resource-status widgets on Google Cloud. The role involves contributing to service development, integrations, testing, and data access within an established technical architecture and delivery process. The position requires at least 4 hours of daily overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is desired, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of professional backend development experience using Python.
• Strong hands-on experience building and deploying backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Experience with relational databases and data warehouse access patterns, including BigQuery, Cloud SQL, or equivalent technologies.
• Practical experience with automated testing, including unit and integration testing.
• Experience integrating backend services with existing authentication and authorization models, including SSO and RBAC.
• Experience working within structured engineering environments involving documented designs, code reviews, and ticket-based delivery.
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or similar tools as part of daily development workflows.
• Excellent communication skills in English, required to collaborate effectively with U.S.-based teams and stakeholders.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain backend services and REST APIs for application modules and resource-status capabilities.
• Build and maintain CSV and PDF data export capabilities.
• Integrate backend services with the platform’s existing authentication and role-based access model (SSO/RBAC).
• Implement reliable data access and integrations across relational databases and data warehouse platforms.
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to support application quality and reliability.
• Support defect resolution, hardening, and acceptance phases.
• Collaborate closely with application and technical leads to align implementation with API design standards and the broader platform architecture.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established development and delivery practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation and ticket-based delivery workflows.
