About The Position

Stoke is building Nova, a fully and rapidly reusable launch vehicle designed for daily flight. The Engines Team is developing reusable LNG/LOX full-flow staged-combustion first-stage engines and a LH2/LOX expander second-stage engine. In this role, you will take ownership of rocket-engine component design, analysis, manufacturing, testing, and validation, contributing throughout the product lifecycle. Components may include thrust chambers, reentry heat shields, injectors, turbomachinery, actuators, and ignitors. You will apply and improve design and manufacturing methods while working in a fast-moving, self-directed development environment.

Requirements

  • 8 or more years of experience designing, building, and testing rocket-engine components.
  • Experience with detailed mechanical design, including machined and additive parts, weldments, fasteners, seals, and translating or rotating assemblies.
  • Experience designing, analyzing, and testing rocket-engine components such as thrust chambers, regenerative cooling channels and heat shields, injectors, turbomachinery, actuators, ignitors, gimbals, feed systems, and engine layouts.
  • Experience with GD&T, axial and radial tolerance stackups, and material selection.
  • Experience post-processing test data to evaluate component performance and health.
  • Proficiency in heat transfer, compressible and incompressible flow, and cryogenics.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or a similar field.
