Senior Property Accountant
About The Position
BB Living is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join the accounting team of a rapidly growing company (“the Company”) in the single-family “Build to Rent” industry, based in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Company has a partnership between BB Living and a large private equity institution. It is well capitalized and growing across multiple markets throughout the United States. The ideal candidate has 3-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the multi-family property management industry. This role will be responsible for overseeing property management financial records and reports, performing variance analysis, managing the properties through the month-end close process, contributing to the budgeting process, and assisting with the annual audit. To succeed as a property accountant with BB Living, you should be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, while paying high attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Candidates must be team players, self-starters, comfortable working in a collaborative environment and focused on contributing to the continuous improvement in accounting processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience
- At least 3-4 years of experience in property accounting
- Experience with property management software such as Real Page or Yardi is highly desirable
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and AI tools
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good problem-solving and time management skills
- Highly organized with great attention to detail
- Ability to collaborate and work in a team-oriented environment is imperative

- Experience with property management software such as Real Page or Yardi is highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Manage third party property management accountants through the month-end close process
- Review general ledger activity and ensure accurate property-level accounting
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Monitor budget vs actual results and investigate any significant variances
- Give directives to property management accountants on needed adjustments
- Monthly recalculation of revenue and expense amortization and accruals to ensure accuracy
- Monthly expense deep-dive
- Review monthly reporting packages for 17 properties
- Work with property accountants to forecast cash and suggest monthly distributions
- Support annual audit for related properties
- Collaboration with investment management team on annual budgeting process
- Develop and document policies and procedures for corporate property accounting month end close process to work in tandem with property management month end close process
- Work with property management companies and asset management teams to on-board new properties
- Act as liaison between corporate accounting, corporate leadership, and property management
