This position reports to: Area Field Services Manager Your role and responsibilities: The Senior Project Specialist for ABB will provide technical support to the Regional Commercial team in the development of services proposals for power delivery, power utilization and automation equipment and systems. In this role you will identify and propose value-added service solutions to a broad range of customers including Power Distribution upgrades, Relay upgrades, drive upgrades, generator neutral grounding upgrades, custom bus work, generator switchboard and switchgear modifications. In this fast paced, customer facing role, you will require strong field service technical skills and highly effective communication skills. This is an on-site position based in Rotterdam, NY. This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Buildings Division in the United States. You will be mainly accountable for: Technical leadership — Leads engineering design, approves key deliverables, resolves complex technical challenges, and ensures safety, cybersecurity, and quality compliance. Customer & project partnership — Shapes technical solutions with customers, drives design philosophies, resolves contractual technical issues, and supports proposals. Knowledge building — Coaches engineers, conducts peer reviews, promotes design excellence, and contributes to continuous improvement of tools, processes, and standards. Cross‑functional execution — Manages risks, supports contract and supply chain activities, oversees manufacturing/testing alignment, and ensures accurate, timely, cost‑effective project delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 2 years experience in electrical / mechanical manufacturing environment, Or an associate’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 4 years’ experience, Or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Experience in field of Power Distribution upgrades, relay upgrades, drive upgrades, generator neutral grounding upgrades, custom bus work, generator switchboard and switchgear modifications.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process
  • Strong customer mindset, including oral and written communication skills, presentation skills, and ability to communicate to all levels of an organization.
  • Prior experience with customer specifications review, proposal development, and contract development and negotiations
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
