About The Position

The Senior Project Mechanical Engineer completes mechanical design work for mobile equipment that includes structural, fluid power and powertrain systems, manages complex design and development projects and manages and/or provides work direction for other engineers. You will perform component selection, CAD design work, analysis including FEA, detailed BOM and Operator and User Manuals. The Engineer collaborates with other SpecSys engineers and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done Safely aspects of the project assigned.

Requirements

  • Leadership skills and the ability to guide and manage other engineers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Well organized
  • Has experience with design of mobile equipment systems and/or heavy machinery
  • Has the ability to interact at a management level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality
  • BS or MS engineering degree in mechanical, agriculture, electrical or aerospace engineering disciplines
  • 8+ years of proven project experience

Nice To Haves

  • Has an MBA, MS in engineering, or other advance degree is appreciated and valued, but not required
  • Or has any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance

Responsibilities

  • Verifying the design meets performance and configuration specifications
  • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget
  • Customer management to understand expectations and standards
  • Providing work instructions for engineers, designers and drafters
  • Coordinating resources of project teams
  • Developing and updating project timelines
  • Providing performance and status of projects in timely fashion to management
  • Performing engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements
  • Providing technical data to the client, engineers, designers, drafters, operations and management
  • Overseeing requisite project analysis to verify qualitative integrity
  • Directing preparation and presentation of progress reports for the customer
  • Preparing project review booklets and present to the customer
  • Specifying and sourcing purchase components to be used
  • Specifying materials to be used in design
  • Developing design concepts to perform project function reviews
  • Working on multiple CAD packages
  • Reviewing CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability
  • Reviewing detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards
  • Reviewing and update model and drawing tolerances
  • Generating and reviewing bill of materials for completeness
  • Updating and tracking action / issue items
