About The Position

This role involves project management and customer management for capital equipment (packaging equipment) from the receipt of a purchase order through engineering, procurement, assembly, installation, acceptance testing, and the first year of warranty. The primary responsibility is ensuring the successful execution of a sales order using project management skills. Key aspects include maintaining customer relationships, communication, and satisfaction, as well as negotiating conflicts during project execution. The role is also responsible for issuing change orders, assessing project risks and finances, leading cross-functional teams, and monitoring procurement activities to ensure the supply chain and fabrication team meet project schedules and budgets.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in project management in manufactured equipment or capital equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering & manufacturing environments managing multiple projects.
  • 5+ years of experience as a liaison with customers and managing expectations to a contract.
  • Proficiency with project management practices using the stage gate approach.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams composed of shared resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively mentor junior project managers and associates within adjacent functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of automated packaging equipment and/or Engineer-to-Order capital equipment that involves mechanical & electrical design and manufacturing with integrated controls systems.
  • Experience with horizontal form, fill and seal (HFFS) packaging equipment and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital equipment projects from order receipt to the end of the warranty period.
  • Maintain customer relationships, communication, and satisfaction.
  • Negotiate conflicts with customers during project execution.
  • Issue change orders (internal and customer-driven) to clarify requirements, scope, and milestones.
  • Assess project risks and finances within a stage-gate structure.
  • Report monthly on project performance versus budget and develop forecasts for margin impact.
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional teams from design through customer acceptance.
  • Collaborate with peer project managers on shared resources and project priorities.
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure the global supply chain and internal fabrication team accommodate project schedules and budgets.
  • Manage intracompany and third-party equipment purchases for integrated systems.
