About The Position

Otter Tail Power Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of large-scale transmission projects critical to delivering safe and reliable energy. This role is responsible for managing projects across the full lifecycle—from planning and permitting through construction and project closeout—ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The Senior Project Manager works in a collaborative, matrixed environment, partnering with internal teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to align priorities and drive successful project outcomes. This role plays a key part in advancing infrastructure initiatives that support Otter Tail Power’s long-term strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
  • Experience leading complex infrastructure or utility projects, including full lifecycle delivery with accountability for construction execution
  • Strong expertise in project management disciplines, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and structured PMO/stage-gate processes
  • Demonstrated experience in field operations, contractor management, and QA/QC oversight to ensure safe and high-quality execution
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage contractors, and influence without direct authority
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Manage transmission projects from planning through construction, including scheduling, budgeting, and oversight.
  • Manage contractors and field activities, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and construction standards
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to maintain alignment and drive project progress
  • Identify and manage project risks, resolving issues and adjusting plans to meet schedule and cost expectations
  • Utilize project management tools, data, and reporting to track performance and support decision-making
