About The Position

Element Consulting Inc. is looking for a Senior Project Manager with 10 years of project/construction management experience. Experience in educational facility construction, public works or large commercial projects is required. The Senior Project Manager will manage and provide construction oversight of Construction Manager and Project Engineer, resolve complex construction project related issues, disputes, and disagreements, and develop, assign, and monitor performance of Construction Management staff relative to assigned construction projects. This role involves reviewing status and overall construction project schedule, milestone dates, and coordinating construction activities with the contractor(s) to ensure no conflict with operating school activities. The Senior Project Manager will also review change orders, assess their impact on the District’s budget, and assist Campus Director of Projects and Program Manager’s and other Facilities management staff with bid and contract planning. Additionally, this role assists in preconstruction planning, document review, constructability, milestones based on active school needs and overall schedule, and reviews logistics plans for construction and potential interference with campus activities. The Senior Project Manager reviews status and monitors construction progress, variances with the contract documents, budget and schedule, provides monthly progress reports and other status reports as needed, and reviews and verifies submitted applications for payment and performs overall fiscal management of construction projects. This role provides functional direction over areas of responsibility including construction project schedules, cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control. The Senior Project Manager reviews and monitors the overall administration of contracts for the architect and related consultants, coordinates program activities with campus(es), District Operations & Maintenance, Principal, and other District departments, and reviews and takes recommended actions in resolving disputes relative to construction projects. Finally, the Senior Project Manager develops and recommends internal policies and procedures and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10 full time paid professional project/construction management experience
  • 5 years of experience in managing large programs with projects having construction values in excess of $50 million (not cumulative)
  • 5 years’ experience in educational facility construction, public works or large commercial projects (may include projects outside of California)

  • Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Experience using e-Builder and Prolog
  • Experience in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects and/or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS)
