Senior Project Manager

IDEXXWestbrook, ME
$120,000 - $140,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Companion Animal Group Dx Business Unit PMO is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team and contribute to the delivery of strategic initiatives across our portfolio. This is a high-impact role at the center of a collaborative, mission-driven PMO — one that partners closely with global reference lab operations, enterprise programs, and cross-functional business teams to drive structured, successful project execution. As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead cross-functional initiatives from planning through closeout, bringing clarity, structure, and momentum to complex programs. Your primary focus will be on Reference Lab initiatives — including lab deployment, enterprise transformation, Cx programs, and instrument implementation — while also contributing to broader CAG Dx BU priorities as capacity and business needs allow. This is a role where your ability to manage stakeholders, communicate with confidence, and drive accountability will be just as important as your project management toolkit.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of progressive project management experience, with demonstrated ability to independently lead complex, cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices; proficiency in project management and collaboration software (e.g., Smartsheet, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint).
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, laboratory operations, or technology environments a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP or equivalent certification helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Project Planning and Delivery: Manage the full project lifecycle — from scoping and planning through implementation, closeout, and handoff — ensuring delivery against scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Build robust project plans with clearly defined workstreams, deliverables, milestones, and resource assignments aligned to business objectives and PMO standards.
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, and dependencies; escalate where appropriate and drive timely resolution.
  • Conduct assurance reviews and manage project closeout, including documentation, lessons learned, and transition to business as usual.
  • Engage and Align Stakeholders: Develop and execute stakeholder engagement plans across a complex, matrixed organization — building strong relationships with business leaders, lab operations teams, technology partners, and others.
  • Lead project meetings and communications, driving clear decision-making, action item follow-through, and effective escalation.
  • Prepare and deliver regular status updates, review reports, and presentations tailored to a range of audiences, from core teams to senior leadership.
  • Anticipate and balance competing stakeholder needs; manage expectations with transparency and confidence.
  • Manage Requirements and Change: Coordinate requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, and management across the project lifecycle.
  • Identify, manage, and control scope and project changes using established change control processes; obtain approvals as required.
  • Ensure project documentation meets organizational standards and any applicable regulatory or compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to Team and Portfolio Success: Lead and coordinate small to medium-sized project teams; communicate vision and outcomes, coordinate team actions, and build capability through coaching and mentoring.
  • Contribute to PMO continuous improvement by sharing insights, identifying process opportunities, and supporting a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Bring flexibility to work across Reference Lab and broader CAG Dx BU initiatives as capacity allows, supporting cross-training and portfolio depth across the team.

Benefits

  • Base annual salary target: $120000 - $140000
  • Opportunity for annual cash bonus
  • Health / Dental / Vision Benefits Day-One
  • 5% matching 401k
  • Additional benefits including but not limited to financial support, pet insurance, mental health resources, volunteer paid days off, employee stock program, foundation donation matching, and much more!
