About The Position

HR Green is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead and expand its Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice in Austin. This role involves leading multidisciplinary teams, building client partnerships, and delivering complex infrastructure projects. The position also includes mentoring staff, driving continuous improvement, and contributing to the strategic growth of the Central Texas practice. The goal is to ensure exceptional technical quality, client satisfaction, and strong financial performance across a portfolio of projects. The team provides planning, design, and construction-phase services for municipal infrastructure projects, including wastewater facilities, collection systems, drinking water facilities, water distribution systems, and stormwater/drainage systems. Beyond project delivery, the role focuses on developing future engineers through a collaborative learning environment and strengthening project delivery by identifying efficiencies and sharing best practices. This is an opportunity to lead significant infrastructure projects, build client relationships, mentor professionals, and expand HR Green's presence in Central Texas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience actively serving in a Project Manager role.
  • Progressive experience leading the planning, design, and construction oversight of municipal water, wastewater, and/or water resources projects for public sector clients.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams simultaneously.
  • Experience mentoring engineering staff and fostering a collaborative, growth-oriented team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Direct experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Client Relationship Management (CRM) software applications, like Deltek.
  • Strong client relationship skills with a history of repeat business and expanding client service opportunities.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify efficiencies, improve project delivery processes, and enhance team performance.
  • Ability to travel and meet with clients both virtually and in person as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project scopes, fee estimates, budgets, and contracts.
  • Lead project planning by defining project phases, schedules, staffing plans, deliverables, critical paths, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Direct multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to HR Green's quality standards.
  • Conduct project kickoff and regular coordination meetings.
  • Proactively monitor project performance, identify potential risks or inefficiencies, and implement solutions.
  • Manage scope changes, contract amendments, and change orders.
  • Continuously evaluate project workflows and delivery processes for efficiency and improved outcomes.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for client technical staff.
  • Represent HR Green at client meetings, council sessions, committee meetings, and public presentations.
  • Represent the firm in client interactions and strengthen HR Green's presence in the Central Texas market.
  • Assist in identifying, tracking, and pursuing new project opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed business development goals.
  • Lead proposal development efforts.
  • Support strategic pursuits and contribute to long-term market growth initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing project teams.
  • Create a collaborative learning environment by mentoring junior engineers and project staff.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively.

  • Lead project meetings, establish clear expectations, and foster accountability.
  • Resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Own the financial performance of assigned projects, including budgeting, forecasting, billing, profitability, and resource planning.
  • Regularly review project financial metrics.
  • Manage scope, contract modifications, billing issues, and cost overruns.
  • Partner with leadership to optimize staff utilization and resource allocation.
  • Develop project tracking tools and reporting.
  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing.
