Who are we looking for Due to continued growth, GHD is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Atlanta, Georgia. In this role, you will lead the delivery of complex transportation and infrastructure projects across Georgia, including roadway, highway, and drainage projects for a variety of state and municipal clients. You will oversee all phases of project delivery—from scope development and contract strategy through design management, construction oversight, quality control, budget tracking, and stakeholder coordination. As a key liaison among clients, subconsultants, agencies, and project teams, you will help deliver successful projects while maintaining compliance with applicable industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise, project management capabilities, communication, and client relationship skills with an understanding of Georgia’s transportation market. PDP and LAP certifications from GDOT are preferred. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, manage third-party consultants, resolve project challenges, and support business development and client engagement throughout the Atlanta region and across the state. Success in this role requires exceptional communication, leadership, problem-solving, and contract management skills, along with the ability to work effectively in office and field environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field of study required.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a project manager.
  • Ability to focus and deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Adept at managing multiple competing priorities across concurrent projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues or oversee relationship management with a group of more transactional clients and customers.
  • Participate in and contribute to a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to build own capability and develop innovative practice among colleagues.
  • Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration across business units, such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons.
  • Conduct complex feasibility studies from a technological and organizational perspective and document findings to complete cost-benefit analysis on implementing changes to business processes, products, or business unit structure.
  • Monitor and review performance against health, safety, and environment (HSE) key performance indicators (KPIs) and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility. Take action to improve performance and to resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
  • Identify shortcomings in existing business practices, then suggest and implement improvements while developing and delivering projects or a work stream within the organization's change management program. Involves working with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge among colleagues on project/program outcomes and innovative practices in a particular area of expertise and to support the practice.
  • Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues.
  • Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Analyze and evaluate the feasibility and relevance of proposed complex products and services and develop and amend, as necessary, with guidance from senior colleagues. May also be responsible for supervising activities performed by a product development or specialist team.
  • Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
  • Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to complex bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
  • Discuss and recommend more complex or innovative technical developments to improve the quality of the used technology, such as systems, processes, infrastructure, installations, and machines.
