About The Position

RS&H is currently seeking a Sr Project Manager (Transportation Development) to join our Infrastructure team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This position will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule of in-office and remote. As part of the infrastructure team, you'll serve an integral role in the firm by serving as a discipline leader, subject matter expert, and technical resource for discipline and related program activities, including active participation in discipline quality improvement and assurance activities. This position will define project elements and processes required to meet client needs, along with participating in and coordinating preparation of bids and promoting and maintaining client relationships; oversee performance to contracts through shared planning and monitoring of work orders and deliverables with engineering, construction, and various other disciplines; lead projects, including major projects with complex elements and a broad scope of responsibilities; coordinate with project management to execute project plans and directly supervise the teams' design and technical delivery; promote and maintain client relationships through all project phases, including presenting directly to the client on technical and design solutions and serving as a firm ambassador to win new work; recommend new practices or changes in emphasis for professional services based on the latest methods, best practices, technological innovations, and developments ; and lead the development and application of company-wide standard operating procedures and technical requirements for projects and discipline deliverables. This position may also manage a small team of direct reports.

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program and a minimum of 15 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional engineer in good standing.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Proven background and ability to make decisions that have significant impact to an organization.
  • Ability to recommend operational strategies and plans with direct impact on results.
  • Recognized as a thought leader in the industry.
  • Experience leading the work of multiple disciplines and participating in and/or having decision-making on technical matters within discipline.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to communicate with senior leadership on matters of strategic importance.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, team members, and other key stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful background managing multi-discipline teams made up of engineers, scientists, environmental specialists, and public engagement professionals.
  • Successful history of delivering various types of PD&E studies, Master Plans, feasibility studies, and concept development studies for a variety of FDOT and County projects, such as Limited Access Expressways, Tolled Expressways, Urban Arterial Reconstruction and Widenings, intersection, and interchange modifications.
  • Experience developing improvement alternatives for various types of transportation projects including new roadway alignments and expansion of existing facilities.
  • Strong understanding of the traffic forecasting process, interchange modification and justification reporting process, and Purpose and Need statement creation.
  • Refined written and oral communication skills.
  • Understands the power of presentations and the importance of communicating with non-technical individuals.
  • Very comfortable speaking to large groups, elected boards and various public officials.
  • Familiar with the FDOT SWEPT system and requirements.
  • Strong command of the FDOT PD&E Manual and ETDM process.
  • Experience delivering FDOT District Wide and/or Continuing Services Contracts.
  • Well-established contacts within FDOT Districts Four and Six.
  • Identified and captured a variety of FDOT PD&E and/or Transportation Planning project contracts.
  • Extensive experience with the FDOT procurement process and resources.
  • Can lead the development and finalization of standard letters of interest, expanded letters of interest, oral presentations, and interviews.
  • Understands the importance of being well prepared for large and small meetings and has the ability to think on their feet and pivot quickly when the situation warrants.
