About The Position

Eversource is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Transmission to independently manage high-risk, high-profile transmission projects in Massachusetts. This role ensures all phases of approved projects are completed efficiently, within scope, on schedule, and within budget. The position involves close collaboration with various management personnel across departments such as Transmission Asset Management, Transmission Planning, Design, Land Planning, Construction and Test, Finance, Regulatory Relations, Legal, and Purchasing. Key responsibilities include managing regulatory approvals, interfacing with regulators and local officials, overseeing the development and evaluation of bid documents for engineering, design, construction, and material procurement, and ensuring project compliance with company policies, regulations, and laws. This role specifically supports the Major Project Underground Cable Modernization Program.

  • Ability to develop skills to prepare presentations and expert witness testimony for local and state regulatory presentations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferred) or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business or the equivalent degree will be considered or equivalent experience.
  • Ten (10) years of related experience.
  • At least three (3) years of Project Management experience.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License is required.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Must be able to work up to five days in the office if needed (for example: emergencies, training, or other business needs) or should the policy change.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Project Management class work is desirable.
  • Experience in the Construction of Transmission Lines is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage high-risk, high-profile transmission projects in Massachusetts.
  • Ensure all phases of approved projects are completed efficiently and within scope, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Work closely with management personnel in Transmission Asset Management, Transmission Planning, Design, Land Planning, Construction and Test, Finance, Regulatory Relations, Legal, and Purchasing.
  • Overall responsibility for the management of all aspects of projects including the coordination of regulatory approvals and interface with regulators and local elected officials and town department managers.
  • Manage the development and process for evaluation of bid documents for engineering, design and construction, as well as for the procurement of material and support systems.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the projects are documented and completed in accordance with company policies and all regulations and laws.
  • Manage traditional projects requiring close stakeholder interaction such as large substation construction projects, new transmission line projects, major transmission facility expansion projects, or projects of medium/high complexity.
  • Integrate and manage a cross-functional project team to develop appropriate project roles and responsibilities.
  • Manage the planning, engineering, siting/permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning and close out project phases.
  • Manage the team’s development of a comprehensive project plan, schedule, communications plan and establish the change control methodology.
  • Manage execution of the project plan and project change control management process.
  • Coordinate the development of a detailed project budget and cash flow.
  • Manage the monthly maintenance and reporting of project scope, budgets and schedules.
  • Manage the development of a comprehensive siting and permitting needs assessment.
  • Manage the development of and participate in the required regulatory siting, permit filings and other regulatory filings.
  • Coordinate environmental assessment and the necessary regulatory approvals (federal, state and local) needed to begin construction.
  • Ensure the timely preparation ISO-NE project submittals.
  • Manage the development and evaluation of bid documents for engineering, design, construction and test procurement of material and support systems.
  • Manage the development of required outage and energization plans.
  • Manage the timely preparation of the long-term outage plan project submittals.
  • Manage project close out in a timely manner to support corporate business goals.
  • Provide clear concise and comprehensive reports for management.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced project management personnel.
  • Take a leadership role within the organization on group initiatives and process development.
  • Prepare corporate testimony such as written responses for local, state, or federal regulatory proceedings.
  • Respond to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs, which may include assisting during an emergency outside of normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.
