About The Position

The Department of Research Oncology is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager to join the Project Management group. This role is a key bridge between scientific innovation and strategic execution, serving as the linchpin between scientific teams and strategic goals. You will manage complex research issues, influence technical strategies, and ensure early-stage drug candidates move efficiently toward preclinical development. The ultimate goal is to discover and develop innovative therapies for patients through exceptional project management. World-class execution in therapeutic discovery requires deep scientific expertise, strong cross-functional collaboration, management of fluid resources, and the integration of scientific rigor and process excellence.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is required.
  • Generally over six (6) years of industry experience with relevant research discovery experience.
  • Technical proficiency in Biology and Drug Discovery, with the ability to understand the organization and the therapeutic context.
  • Science-minded professional who is highly organized and proactive in using critical thinking to navigate ambiguous situations and solve complex problems without bias.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to communicate effectively across leadership and stakeholders, managing conflict and influencing others without formal authority.
  • Demonstrates an agility mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Project Leads to discover and assess the clinical value of new therapies.
  • Articulate, monitor, and amend team goals, driving the team toward key deliverables and identifying scientific questions.
  • Ensure timely and data-driven decision making by navigating governance and facilitating proactive risk evaluation and mitigation.
  • Lead team effectiveness by acting as a steward of the Project Team System, managing team operations, facilitating meeting planning, and ensuring seamless information flow.
  • Foster inclusive team dynamics to maximize scientific collaboration.
  • Execute high-quality, integrated plans for research projects, applying best practices.
  • Track resource allocation to align project needs with the portfolio prioritization framework.
  • Maintain strategic project schedule for projects; analyze and manage the strategic critical path.
  • Identify and escalate cross-project challenges and bottlenecks, providing expert operational support.
  • Ensure strategic project inputs are provided into business planning processes and reports.
  • Prepare for entry into Development, partnering deeply with Early Development functions to ensure smooth transitions.
