Senior Project Manager, Power Infrastructure

CrusoeDenver, CO
$175,000 - $215,000Hybrid

About The Position

Crusoe is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our growing Project Execution team. This role focuses specifically on the power generation aspects of our large-scale data center projects, encompassing electrical, communication, controls, and mechanical systems. You will play a critical role through the lifecycle of the project, managing engineering execution, construction, completions, commissioning, and turnover. Reporting to a Program Manager, the Project Manager owns end-to-end delivery of an individual power project within a larger program — leading cross-functional teams, directing schedule, cost, and procurement outcomes, and ensuring the successful deployment of power infrastructure. This position requires deep knowledge of power generation technologies, construction execution, and project management methodologies. You lead a project delivery team built on two leads: a Project Engineer, who owns technical execution, and an Assistant Project Manager, who owns commercial execution and directs the project controls team (Project Controls Manager, Project Scheduler, and Procurement Specialist). You will work closely with engineering, operations, and technology teams across the full project lifecycle, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget while meeting quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 7+ years of demonstrable experience in large (>$100MM) project management and execution with a focus on lifecycle execution.
  • Proven track record in industrial environments, with a strong preference for experience in power generation and project execution within the oil and gas or energy sector.
  • Exceptional skills encompassing planning, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, risk management, resource allocation, change management, and stakeholder communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex power generation and multidiscipline projects from initiation to closeout.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop cross-functional project teams and direct leaders, including a technical lead and a commercial lead.
  • Experience building high-performing teams and fostering a collaborative, results-oriented environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and executive presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and drive results across teams.
  • Flexibility to travel to field locations up to 50%, or as required.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Experience with gas turbine power generation
  • Familiarity with construction inspection requirements and best practices
  • Experience mentoring or managing Assistant Project Managers

Responsibilities

  • Own the full lifecycle of an individual power project within a program, from initiation to closeout, accountable to the Program Manager for delivery.
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans encompassing timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Set project direction and make key decisions on scope, schedule, and cost trade-offs.
  • Direct the project's scheduling and controls functions through the commercial lead — setting the controls framework and KPIs, reviewing cost and schedule performance, and holding those functions accountable.
  • Apply strong technical command of scheduling and project controls to challenge and integrate their outputs rather than producing them.
  • Approve change requests and drive resolution of critical issues.
  • Lead the project delivery team — a Project Engineer (technical lead) and an Assistant Project Manager (commercial lead, who directs the project controls team) — clearly defining roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Develop both leads and their teams, delegating ownership to build capability.
  • Direct the design, specification, and engineering of the power generation project through the technical lead, with a focus on constructibility across all systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Approve technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Direct the project through field construction, maintaining the project schedule and coordinating contractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Make field-level decisions on construction sequencing and resolve conflicts between trades.
  • Lead the project team through construction completions, commissioning, and project turnover phases while supporting the strategic timeline for power generation.
  • Ensure turnover documentation and system readiness meet operational requirements.
  • Set procurement and contracting strategy and own the commercial outcome, while the Assistant Project Manager's commercial team executes purchasing, expediting, and contract administration.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning at field locations.
  • Approve contractor agreements and ensure adherence to commercial terms and safety protocols.
  • Provide on-site project support during construction, commissioning, and turnover phases.
  • Coordinate field logistics, verify deliverables, and document site conditions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, customers, and internal leadership regarding all project matters.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Provide project reporting and escalation management to the Program Manager and leadership.
