About The Position

GFT is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Municipal Roads to join our Transportation Practice in Toronto! This role follows a hybrid work model requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office. Whether working on highways and bridges or traffic engineering, our team excels in resilient, sustainable design and construction, delivering innovative solutions that address the complexities of modern, multimodal roadway systems and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable travel for all. As a Senior Project Manager, Municipal Roads, you will function as a project manager or team lead on municipal roadway projects. You will also participate in and support pursuit and business development efforts, while nurturing and developing client relationships.

Requirements

  • A university degree in civil engineering or related degree.
  • P.Eng. designation required.
  • 10+ years of related project experience on municipal roadway projects
  • Familiarity with roadway design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, ORD)
  • Technical excellence in civil & roadway design
  • A thorough understanding of the requirements and complexities of the design and management of multi-disciplinary projects, such as utility coordination, construction staging, traffic management, public consultation, external agency approvals, communication and liaison, coordination of sub-consultants and design groups, schedule and budget control, quality control, construction administration and claims resolution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in BRT, LRT including intermodal transit facilities an asset.
  • Familiarity and experience with various delivery models and P3 projects is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project management plans and manage scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with all discipline leads, department heads, other project managers, project controls staff, and construction personnel.
  • Maintain a high level of technical quality on the projects.
  • Mentor project staff and participate in hiring processes.
  • Provide effective and efficient management of day-to-day operations within the roads and highways team.
