We are seeking a senior Fire Protection Engineer passionate about technical excellence and project leadership. We are expanding our Fire Protection Engineering practice and are seeking a senior-level Fire Protection Engineer to join our Los Angles, CA office. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the growth of our fire protection services both locally and nationally. As part of SGH’s shareholder-track team, you will take on meaningful responsibility in technical leadership, project delivery, client development, and mentoring future engineers—while collaborating with fire protection leaders across the country to build and strengthen the practice.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering (required).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in fire protection engineering, including project and client leadership.
  • PE licensure in Fire Protection Engineering (required).
  • Strong experience across a variety of project types and services, including fire/life safety code consulting, egress and smoke modeling, and fire investigation.
  • Experience with fire protection modeling tools such as FDS, Pathfinder, or CONTAM.
  • Proven success in managing clients, teams, and deliverables on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A desire to contribute to firm leadership and long-term growth through mentorship, technical excellence, and client development.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level technical consulting in fire protection engineering, including code consulting, fire/smoke modeling, performance-based design, and forensic investigations.
  • Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, and client expectations.
  • Build and strengthen client relationships, lead proposal efforts, and contribute to the overall business development strategy.
  • Support the long-term growth of SGH’s Fire Protection practice, including identifying market opportunities and guiding service offerings.
  • Supervise and mentor engineering staff, helping grow the next generation of technical leaders.
  • Collaborate with other SGH practice areas to deliver integrated and innovative solutions.
  • Represent SGH in client meetings and with building and fire officials.
  • Participate in professional organizations and contribute to thought leadership through publications, presentations, or technical committees.
